Hyrsky named head coach
Dave Hyrsky announced as the head coach for the Las Vegas Thunderbirds Hockey Team
Las Vegas, NV – February 17, 2019 – Dave Hyrsky has been announced as the head coach of the
Las Vegas Thunderbirds. The Las Vegas Thunderbirds will kick off their season in September
2019 at the SoBe Ice Arena, in the Fiesta Rancho Hotel and Casino.
Dave is a native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. After a playing career in Junior A,
Canadian University and Europe, Dave returned home to start a coaching career that included
U18 AAA, High School and Canadian University. Coach Dave then headed back overseas to
coach professionally in the Alpine League that included teams from Slovakia, Slovenia and the
Czech Republic. During this time Dave was also the coach of the Serbian national teams at the
U18, U20 and Men's level, winning a World Championship with the Men's team and a silver
with the U18 and U20. Dave then moved to the Elite league in the Netherlands for the next 7
years.
Dave and wife, Annieck, are proud parents of two boys, Daniel (14) and Benjamin (12). Coach
Dave is currently in the Midwest recruiting players for the upcoming season and plans to move
to Las Vegas in the near future.
